Introducing the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 Calibre 5 Watches

If you’re a TAG Heuer Aquaracer dive watch fan you could probably spend a few hours talking about its many qualities. The multifaceted watch has always been loved by recreational divers, as well as those who just love the dive watch look in general. There are no hard and fast rules to wearing an Aquaracer watch. The Swiss watch brand intends the appeal of the watch to resonate with urban explorers and sport goers alike. Recently TAG Heuer released a line of 8 new Aquaracer watches named the Professional 300. These introduced new dial colours to the range, as well as a choice of materials, not to mention an innovative cyclops lens above the date window at 6 o’clock these luxury dive watches boasted 12-sided bezels that were both easy to grip and faithful to an original design that went by the reference 844. This was the brand’s very first dive watch, released in 1982. If you haven’t already checked these new TAG Heuer Aquaracer watches out, you can view the series of 8 models here.

Now, hold that thought, because the brand has now introduced another 3 models for the range. One is called the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 Calibre 5 Automatic watch and is available in a blue or black iteration. The other is a fully luminous model named the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 Night Diver Calibre 5 Automatic watch with a dial that glows richly during the night. The third is the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 Tribute to Ref 844 Calibre 5 Automatic watch – a limited edition model that pays close attention to the design of said original dive watch. Today we are looking at the Professional 300 Calibre 5 models. These highly functional dive watches follow in the footsteps of the earlier models released in April and feature colour coordinated bezels crafted from glossy ceramic that match the colour of their respective dials.

A flagship model with multifaceted appeal

The TAG Heuer Aquaracer watch is the flagship model within the famous Swiss brand's catalogue. It is part of the brand’s fabric. Built on foundations of robustness, reliability and performance – these values have never been clearer than in this next generation of dive tools. TAG Heuer has upheld its “Six Features” concept in the design of the Aquaracer. Every model from the diverse series incorporates a water resistance of at least 200 meters, a sapphire crystal glass front, a unidirectional rotating bezel, a screw-down crown, a double folding clasp and a set of luminous markers.

When TAG Heuer launched the latest generation of the Aquaracer watches earlier this year, it was clear the manufacturer had paid some close attention to the case and functionality of the watch. The models were each equipped with the Calibre 5. The dials boasted an instantly recognizable horizontal surface pattern. The bezels were enhanced for easy-grip purposes. The crown was made extra resistant to damage and the date at 6 o’clock was magnified under a cyclops lens. From lug to lug, the entire design of this luxury dive watch is intended for stamina and endurance underwater.

The new TAG Heuer Professional 300 Aquaracer Calibre 5 Automatic watches are available in a blue and black version. Complimenting the shades of each dial is a colour coordinated perforated rubber strap with a fine adjustment system integrated into its design. This feature enables the strap to be adjusted in small increments by squeezing and sliding the push buttons at the side of the clasp to accommodate for the expansion and contraction of the wrist in different conditions.  The folding clasp, which provides a sturdy and secure fit against the wrist is finished in fine-brushed and polished surface techniques to match the case.

The blue and black variations of the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 Calibre 5 Automatic watches measure a 43mm diameter and have been crafted from a fine-brushed and polished stainless feel. The 300-meter water-resistant case is topped with a flat pane of scratch-resistant and anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass for protecting the surface of the dial. The date window at 6 o’clock, positioned under a cyclops lens is easy to reference and the rhodium-plated hands and indexes have been treated with a generous layer of Super-LumiNova materials for assistance with timekeeping in the dark. The screw-down crown and caseback help uphold an impressive level of water resistance whilst the grooves on the bezel, used for measuring elapsed time underwater, are easy to grip under slippery fingers.

To maintain accuracy, the new Aquaracer Professional 300 watches are powered by the Calibre 5 movement. The self-winding engine is capable of producing 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivers a 38-hour power reserve. The movement is concealed behind a screwed-down stainless steel case engraved with the famous diving helmet that features throughout the Aquaracer collection.
