History of Sinn Watches

The Sinn watch company was founded in 1961 by Helmut Sinn, a former World War II pilot and a legendary flight instructor, under the name ‘Helmut Sinn Spezialuhren’. Using his extensive knowledge and experience of aviation, Helmut Sinn’s watch company began manufacturing navigation clocks and pilot chronographs with a clear focus on functionality, technology and design.

Staying true to the values of its founder, Sinn watches continue to meet the demands of professional usage even under the most extreme conditions. From the Sinn 140 S’s first trip to outer space in 1985, Sinn watches have been worn and tested by professionals in some of the harshest climates and intense situations.

A number of pioneering technologies have been developed by Sinn Watches to ensure its luxury watches meet the company’s increasingly high performance standards: including TEGIMENT (increased scratch resistance), Ar-Dehumidifying Technology (freedom from fogging), DIAPAL (a lubricant-free anchor escapement), HYDRO (reflection-free under water), magnetic field protection, temperature resistance and captive safety bezel.
