Released in 2002, the IWC Big Pilot’s watch was met with resounding success. Inspired by vintage observation watches, the first timekeeping instruments made for the German Air Force during the 1940s boasted the recognisable triangular index at 12 o’clock flanked by two dots, a large robust case and a legible dial. IWC Schaffhausen Big Pilot’s watches belong to the company’s classic pilot’s collection. Specially engraved casebacks depicting an image of the Junkers Ju 52 aircraft combine with leather straps sourced from Santoni, the artisanal Italian shoe and leather goods manufacturer. To ensure superior Swiss performance, IWC Big Pilot’s watches are powered by independently manufactured movements developed in house at IWC Schaffhausen’s watchmaking facilities.
