Climbing the Dhaulagiri in the Himalayas is a tremendous feat that the Certina DS watches know only too well. The successful ascent of the seventh highest mountain was achieved in 1960 with the Certina model fastened to the wrist. The expedition of the beautiful ‘White Mountain’ - the literal translation of Dhaulagiri - is remembered with the Certina DS-1 Powermatic 80; a charming piece that honours its predecessor and the enormous challenge it embraced.
A special tribute to the expedition is commemorated on the case back with a view of Mount Dhaulagiri. The date and height are added to the artwork along with the Certina name and founding year. The shape of the etching still allows for a glimpse of the intricate movement that is displayed above the peak; a beautifully executed case back to marry Certina’s heritage with their technical evolvement in watchmaking.
The elegant, classic timepiece with the rose gold and silver dial provides the special edition with an air of sophistication. The razor sharp rose gold hands beautifully compliment the circular rose gold band and rectangular indices against the silver backdrop. Framed with a stainless steel case the dial is a delicate, exquisite design that embraces its vintage charm; a timeless classic. The dark brown alligator strap completes the timepiece delightfully.
