Graham Chronofighter Oversize Score Baja 1000 Watch Review

Graham has revealed a limited edition watch that pays tribute to its exclusive partnership with the Baja 1000 off-road race.

The Graham Chronofighter Oversize Score Baja 1000 was created to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the race, and is a limited edition of just 100 pieces.

The Tecate Score Baja 1000 is an annual race held on the Baja California Peninsula in Mexico, with the 2012 race taking place from November 14th-17th. The race allows a variety of different vehicles, including motorcycles, cars and trucks, to complete the same 1,000-mile course. It is known for its unpredictable nature as the vehicles race across a dusty, bumpy course at high speed.

Graham founder Eric Loth said: "Graham is delighted to be the Official Timekeeper of the 2012 Score Baja 1000 off-road race. The race is all about challenge, adventure and glory, and Graham is the perfect match for the spirit of the race, as well as the enthusiasm and team spirit of the participants, and we have created a winner's watch that represents all of these aspects."

The Graham Chronofighter Oversize Score Baja 1000 has been "re-engineered to fit the extreme race conditions" and was inspired by the modified race vehicles and the tricky course. The watch will be presented to the winner of the 2012 race.
The watch has a 47 mm steel with black PVD case, and a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both faces. The smoked sapphire case back features the Baja 1000 logo. The lever is made of a single piece of plain carbon using a very specific machining process, giving the watch more stiffness and enhanced usability.
Other features include a scratch-proof ceramic bezel, and a calculated telemeter scale that enables the wearer to measure distances using the speed of sound (starting the chronograph when a visible event occurs, such as lightning, and stopping it when the sound is heard). The distance in miles can be calculated on the dial using the scale rim (346 m/s).
The timepiece is powered by calibre G1747 automatic chronograph movement, with Incabloc shock absorber and 48 hours power reserve. It comes with an integrated techno-fabric strap.
