Jaeger-LeCoultre Watches at the Venice International Film Festival

Jaeger-LeCoultre is partner of the Venice International Film Festival for the eight consecutive year, and will present two new Rendez-Vous watches at the event.

The Venice Film Festival is the oldest international film festival in the world, taking place each year on the island of the Lido, Venice, Italy. The 69th annual event is being held from August 29th to September 8th 2012. As an official partner since 2005, Jaeger-LeCoultre watches will be worn by stars on the red carpet, and awarded to prizewinners in recognition of their achievements.

The winners of the best actor, best actress, best director and best film awards will each receive a personalised Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso featuring a lacquered engraving of the lion that symbolises Venice, and the inscription '69th Mostra'. Director, scriptwriter, actor and producer Spike Lee will also be awarded the 2012 Jaeger-LeCoultre 'Glory to Filmmaker' prize - an annual award given to individuals that have made a significant contribution to the development of contemporary cinema.

Two new Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous timepieces will be presented at the event. The Rendez-Vous Art Haute Joaillerie watches are created using the snow-setting technique: one with diamonds, and the other with blue sapphires and rubies. A gem-setter places each diamond individually by hand, using stones of various sizes to entirely cover the metal of the watch.
Throughout the Venice Film Festival, Jaeger-LeCoultre will also be supporting Emergency, a humanitarian association dedicated to helping victims of armed conflict and poverty. The luxury watch brand will provide funding for the Emergency maternity centre in Anabah, Afghanistan. On August 30th, a dedicated red carpet ceremony will see all guests wear a rose as a symbol of hope for all children. A number of Reverso watches engraved with a rose were specially created for the occasion.
