Jaeger-LeCoultre Watches Sponsors World's Oldest Polo Tournament

Jaeger-LeCoultre is the Official Sponsor and Timekeeper of the 120th Argentine Polo Open of Palermo, the oldest polo tournament in the world.

The championship is held from November 16th to December 7th 2013, and sees the world's eight best teams compete against each other. The polo stadium at the Campo Argentino de Polo in Palermo, Buenos Aires, can hold up to 16,000 spectators around two grass playing fields. Jaeger-LeCoultre will be involved in all the key moments of the tournament.

Jaeger-LeCoultre has been closely linked to polo since the creation of the Reverso in 1931. The iconic timepiece was designed to meet the demand of British colonial army officers in India who found their watches were being damaged during polo matches. The Reverso's famous swivelling case provided protection to the glass and dial, as only the metal case back was exposed to potential knocks during the sport.

Argentinean polo player Eduardo Novillo Astrada, a brand ambassador for Jaeger-LeCoultre, said: "The Reverso is the watch that means Polo. For me there is no other watch that is more related to polo. I am very lucky to wear my Jaeger-LeCoultre Squadra: it helps me not to be late! I share several values with Jaeger-LeCoultre: team work, passion, elegance and for me most importantly of all, a family atmosphere."
