The Trainmaster Cleveland Express timepiece is designed to recognize Ball's significant contribution in terms of getting time standardized for the US railroads. The timepiece is inspired by a vintage 8-day power reserve desk timepiece from 1930. It is powered by Swiss-made ETA 2836-2 automatic calibre that is certified by Contrôle Officiel Suisse de Chronométres (COSC) – the official Swiss institute that tests chronometers. The movement performs 28 800 vibrations per hour and has 25 bearing jewels. The watch is protected from shock and water penetration. Hands and indices are illuminated through the use of 15 self-powered micro gas tubes that glow 100 times brighter than luminous paint. Additional functionalities include day and date displays, see-through case back, screwed-in crown and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective coating.
