Rado DiaMaster Grande Seconde Black Ceramic Watch Review

Rado introduces the exquisite DiaMaster Grande Seconde Black Ceramic timepiece to their stunning Baselworld 2015 collection.

A self proclaimed master of materials Rado ensured that the new Baselworld releases encompassed the luxury brands dedication to high-tech ceramic. The birth of the DiaMaster Grande Seconde collection was of course no exception to the rule with a contemporary vision crafted in plasma ceramic.

The overall aesthetic is hailed as a retro design with an edge to allow for the timepiece to adopt various personalities; a watch that can equally be worn by a business professional or at a casual weekend outing. The core feature that enables for the timepiece to stand out amongst it’s peers is the unconventional dial. A watch that embraces diversity and dares to be different! The dial refuses to encompass the entire watch face with the hour and minute counter to be scaled down and positioned to the right of the 43mm case. The seconds counter overlaps controversially covering the 8, 9 and 10 hour markings without removing readability. The results are extremely innovative and unique ensuring that the DiaMaster Grande Seconde line does not try to conform to traditional watchkeeping.

Rado proudly patented a process that has enabled for the team to engineer metallic looking watches with the comfort of high tech ceramic. The genius discovery of heating white ceramic in a plasma oven where gasses activate at 20,000 C transforms the colour to adopt a warm metallic shine without the risk of fading in the future. Also, the benefits of scratch resistance, lightweight and hypoallergenic remain unaffected by the magical transformation.
